Charges filed in fatal St. Louis shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Nearly five months after a St. Louis teenager was shot to death while sitting in a car, a suspect has been charged in her killing.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ( ) reports that 25-year-old Richard Reynolds was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Aniya Cook was sitting in a car about 1 a.m. on July 31, consoling her boyfriend about another shooting earlier that night. Court documents said Reynolds and others had been waiting for the pair to return to the car, then fired guns into the vehicle.

Cook was shot in the face and died three days later. She was a National Honor Society student who was about to attend Missouri State University on a scholarship.
