SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Several years ago, a Ledford man found a scrapbook in the attic of the house his aunt used to live in, and now he's sharing it with others.

David Garner says he used to look through the scrapbook periodically, and found that there were a lot of old articles and pictures from the WWII era. He says he didn't think much of it until this weekend when he was watching a Veterans Day event on television.

Garner says he thought there may be people around the area that have ties with the articles and people in the book. He says the scrapbook is full of soldiers that are from Saline County. It includes dozens of pages, hundreds of articles and lots of stories about the involvement these soldiers had in WWII.

The book also contains stories about the soldiers afterwards, including local events, birth announcements and more.

Garner says he plans on taking this scrapbook by the Saline County Golf Club for people in the area to look at it. He feels like his Aunt Sherry, who put this together, deserves a lot of credit. He says she clipped out articles and took the time to put the book, of all the years of the WWII era and then some, together.

He says he feels the need to show this book to the local people of Saline County so everyone can know the stories of their family's past and what they endured throughout the war and their lives.
