SIU basketball wins opener under Barry Hinson

The Southern Illinois University basketball team defeated New Orleans 72-55 Monday night to win the opener under 1st year head coach Barry Hinson.

Desmar Jackson scored 17-points and Jeff Early added 27-points in the winning effort.

The Salukis will play their home opener Saturday night at seven against Benedictine-Univ.-Springfield.
