BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -
A badly beaten horse is saved by one local woman's love for animals and her big heart.
The horse's name is Annie, and when Glenda Bearden found her, scars and gashes covered the animal's body.
Now, she is nursing it back to health.
"She got a bad cut on her leg, her head. I had never seen anything like that ever," said Bearden. "I didn't know that her skull was cracked. But I could see the skull, her head was wide open. Part of her nose is broken. She's just got a whole lot the matter with her."
Bearden did try to take Annie to a horse rescue shelter, but they turned her down due to overcrowding.
A local veterinary office and stable have agreed to pay for the medical bills and house Annie until she finds a home.
If you are interested in helping with the care of Annie, or want to adopt her, contact Missy at (573) 837-8682.
