About half of the states have made the decision to expand Medicaid. Missouri lawmakers are currently debating the matter in Jefferson City. How will what legislators decide impact the state, and those currently living without health insurance?

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A team from Cape Girardeau just returned from Haiti where they're putting the finishing touches on a school to benefit hundreds of kids.

Holly Brantley talked with volunteers who's worked for years to make the students' dreams for education come true.

The Out Of Poverty Thru Education team says the Good Samaritan School in Thomassique, Haiti is all but complete.

For more than six years the Cape Girardeau group has worked to see the construction through.

The walls are up and the community is excited. It should open soon.

Almost 300 of the community's neediest children will receive an education here.

Before OPTE, Rotary Clubs and churches like St. Vincents got on board, the kids went to school in grass huts.

Now they are looking for donations of $100 to provide 80 desks for the school.

Skip Wrape has led the team and says the children are so excited.

"I don't know how you explain look in people's eyes and their faces," said Wrape. "They know we are Americans they know we are from Cape Girardeau. They know we are there to help."

The kids showed their appreciation with a sign that says thank you Cape Girardeau.

I went with Skip Wrape to Thomassique over a year ago, and I can tell you the appreciation from these children is overwhelming. They really are thankful.
