For more than six years the Cape Girardeau group has worked to see the construction through.
The walls are up and the community is excited. It should open soon.
Almost 300 of the community's neediest children will receive an education here.
Before OPTE, Rotary Clubs and churches like St. Vincents got on board, the kids went to school in grass huts.
Now they are looking for donations of $100 to provide 80 desks for the school.
Skip Wrape has led the team and says the children are so excited.
"I don't know how you explain look in people's eyes and their faces," said Wrape. "They know we are Americans they know we are from Cape Girardeau. They know we are there to help."
The kids showed their appreciation with a sign that says thank you Cape Girardeau.
I went with Skip Wrape to Thomassique over a year ago, and I can tell you the appreciation from these children is overwhelming. They really are thankful.
