It may be hard to believe, but election polls will open in just seven days.
While voter turnout may be in jeopardy over on the East Coast, city officials in Cape Girardeau say that won't be the case locally.
"I'm predicting about 74 percent," said Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers. "We've had over 2,000 absentee voters already in Cape Girardeau County alone. I just hope we get that turnout across the nation."
Wednesday, Oct. 31 will be the last day for voters to request an absentee ballot by mail.
Those ballots will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5.
The polls will open from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
