5 alarm fire destroys building

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

A five-alarm fire late Sunday night in Cairo, IL burned an empty building.

According to the Cairo Police Department crews were called to a building on 32nd and Poplar street fully involved with flames around 11:30 p.m.

Cairo fire officials were on the scene in minutes.

Crews from Mounds, Mound City, Wickliffe, and Horseshoe Lake all responded as well.

However the building was destroyed by the fire.

The building, which was an old tavern, was empty. No one was hurt.

There were no utilities hooked up to the building.

This fire is under investigation.
