Renewed interest in MOCHIP after recent child abduction

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

MOCHIP,or Missouri Child Identification Program is designed to help families if theirchildren ever go missing or are abducted.

Inlight of recent abductions, many parents these days say they'll do whatever ittakes.

"Ifsomething was to ever happen to either one of my children I would want everyaccessible resource possible to find them," said Brittney Tucker.

Tucker,a mother of two small children, says her family will take part in a MOCHIPevent in Caruthersville this weekend.

Howit works is parents or guardians can walk away from the free event with a discin hand with their child's information, digital pictures, fingerprints, dentalimpressions, and identification cards.

Ifa child disappears this is the information police would immediately need.

"Youdefinitely don't want to be the parent or guardian that didn't get this doneand God forbid something happen to your child," said Tony Hardaway-EventCoordinator.

"Noparent wants to think something will happen to their child, but obviously we'veseen it happen in this community even in a small town you think you are safe,but you never know," said Brittney Tucker.

TheMOCHIP event in Carutherville is this Saturday at the Middle School from10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Peoplefrom all states are welcome.

Organizerssay don't worry about your child's information floating around, as it is allimmediately wiped clean.

Accordingto MOCHIP, eight children in Missouri have been found as a result of MOCHIP.
