CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

MOCHIP, or Missouri Child Identification Program is designed to help families if their children ever go missing or are abducted.

In light of recent abductions, many parents these days say they'll do whatever it takes.

"If something was to ever happen to either one of my children I would want every accessible resource possible to find them," said Brittney Tucker.

Tucker, a mother of two small children, says her family will take part in a MOCHIP event in Caruthersville this weekend.

How it works is parents or guardians can walk away from the free event with a disc in hand with their child's information, digital pictures, fingerprints, dental impressions, and identification cards.

If a child disappears this is the information police would immediately need.

"You definitely don't want to be the parent or guardian that didn't get this done and God forbid something happen to your child," said Tony Hardaway-Event Coordinator.

"No parent wants to think something will happen to their child, but obviously we've seen it happen in this community even in a small town you think you are safe, but you never know," said Brittney Tucker.

The MOCHIP event in Carutherville is this Saturday at the Middle School from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

People from all states are welcome.

Organizers say don't worry about your child's information floating around, as it is all immediately wiped clean.

According to MOCHIP, eight children in Missouri have been found as a result of MOCHIP.
