MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -
Officials arrested five people in connection with a meth making operation in McCracken County on Tuesday.
According
to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, this all began when David
Mcelya left the Halfway House in Paducah while serving parole for meth
making charges from 2003. Leaving the home was a violation of his
parole, so police issued a warrant.
The sheriff's department says
it soon began receiving information regarding Mcelya's whereabouts and
additional information alleging he was involved in illegal drug
activity.
Detectives began conducting surveillance on a West Paducah home on Tuesday.
That's
when they saw Mcelya leave the home in a car. They followed and pulled
the vehicle over on Old Highway 60 West near the intersection of Roy Lee
Road in McCracken County.
There they arrested Mcelya and his girlfriend, Deanna Knight.
During the arrest, deputies say Mcelya tried to run from detectives and also resisted arrested.
The driver of their vehicle, Aaron Knight was also arrested.
As
the investigation continued, detectives searched a home on Indian
Mounds Trail where they say Mcelya and Deanna Knight had been hiding.
There they found Steven and Melanie Green and their 12-year-old son.
Detectives
also found methamphetamine and meth making materials in the home. These
items included chemicals, Sudafed, and needles. Multiple loaded guns
were also located inside the home.
The five arrested individuals
were arrested on various meth related and other charges and are being
held in the McCracken County Regional Jail. David Mcelya also faces a
parole violation.
