The McCracken County Sheriff's Office and Reidland-Farley Fire Department responded to a semi truck fire in the eastbound Interstate 24 on Wednesday, just after midnight.

It happened at the 11 mile marker.

According to the sheriff's department, 49-year-old Jerry J. Hayes of Florissant, Mo. was driving the truck when due to mechanical failure a tire caught fire.

Hayes pulled into the emergency lane and the fire was extinguished.
