Deadly shooting suspect in court

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A man police say was involved in a deadly shooting in Cape Girardeau appeared in court on Thursday.

Steven Lee Williams, 34, was bound over to circuit court after the state showed probable cause that the alleged crime was committed by Williams.

Police say Williams shot and killed Darcus Purl on the evening of September 20 in what appeared to be some sort of domestic dispute.

Williams was arrested after he was shot in the legs and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

His next court appearance is scheduled for October 29.

    In the midst of the largest hepatitis A outbreak in Kentucky's history, health officials are urging anyone who lives in a county where cases have been confirmed to get vaccinated.
