Schnucks grocery stores are pulling some turkeys off the shelves because of contamination concerns. Honeysuckle's White Cajun-Fried whole turkeys are being recalled by Cargill Turkey Products in Waco, Texas. The frozen turkeys may be contaminated with a micro-organism that can cause a disease called listeriosis. Symptoms can include fever, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In the United States, an estimated one-thousand-850 people become seriously ill with listeriosis each year. Four-hundred-25 die. At least 28 illnesses have been traced to contaminated products at the Cargill plant in Waco. Customers who bought the turkey before the recall can get a full refund at Schnucks.
