Latest on Ill. prison closures, Free clinic, Cell phone bans

Good evening, here are some of the stories we are following for Heartland News at 9 & 10:

An Illinois judge is barring Gov. Pat Quinn from going forward with his plan to close two prisons, at least for now.

A judge declined to return a murder charge against a woman accused of killing an 18-year-old Sikeston woman in 2010.

Two people went before a judge on new murder charges in a more than two-year-old murder case.

Bob Reeves says to expect morning sun followed by increasing clouds with showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and continuing through the evening. A few storms could be strong with large hail.

Doctors are now seeing patients at a new free clinic in Cape Girardeau. Crystal Britt has the details at 10.

It's supposed to protect us: bans on cell phone use while you're driving. But some wonder if these bans really work? Christy Millweard has the story at 10.

Todd Richards has highlights of today's Cardinals win over the Nationals. He'll also have high school soccer and softball scores and highlights from around the Heartland.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent Ron Replogle is encouraging everyone to plan ahead on Halloween and offers some safety tips.

Have a great & safe night -
