DIEHLSTADT, MO (KFVS) -

In June, a deadly tornado rolled through Diehlstadt killing three people. On Wednesday, residents welcomed the sight of a tornado siren.

"I have four children, three small ones, so it's very important," Renee Campbell, a resident, said.

Grover Morrow says the siren will help save lives and prevent what happened last June.

"We had no warnings at all," Morrow said. "We were standing there watching it."

It took the roof off one of his garages and damaged part of his house, but Morrow says he and his family was lucky.

"A few seconds can save injuries and lives," Morrow said.

The city of Dexter donated their old alarm system to Diehlstadt. SEMO Electric Cooperative finished up installing the siren Wednesday.

The National Weather Service blamed the deaths and damage to a low end EF2 tornado with winds of about 115 miles per hour back in June.
