PERRY COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -
Two murder suspects were in court in Perry County, Illinois, Wednesday morning for the first time since officially being charged.
Prosecutors announced murder charges against Chad Bennett and Dakota Wall last week for the 2010 death of Sidnee Stephens of Pinckneyville.
Both each charged with first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, home invasion, residential burglary and kidnapping.
However, Bennett does face an additional charge of concealment of a homicidal death.
Both were charged under Illinois' accountability clause.
The judge ran through the charges and said that while Bennett and Wall may not have actually committed the crimes themselves, they were involved in planning the crime, or otherwise took part in some other way.
Bennett had an attorney ready for his first appearance.
The first order of business was to request that a different judge handle the case.
So, a St. Clair County judge has been appointed, and will take part in his preliminary hearing that was set for November 8.
The judge appointed a public defender for Dakota Wall.
Wall chose to waive her preliminary hearing, so she could go to trial as early as January 2013.
