Food bank manager charged with sexual assault

Roger Woolsey Roger Woolsey

A food pantry manager in Sikeston is accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

Roger Woolsey, 54, of Sikeston is charged with sexual assault, a Class C felony.

According to Executive Director of Southeast Missouri Food Bank Karen Green, Roger Woolsey was a pantry manager.

According to the probable cause statement, Woolsey tried to inappropriately touch the victim at his home. The woman told police Woolsey continued and then sexually assaulted her. She then ran out of the home when she thought he was asleep and went to a friend's house who called police.

Executive Director Karen Green released the following statement:

"One of my staff members was charged with a reprehensible offense. It is my duty as Executive Director to now follow company guidelines regarding sexual misconduct by an employee. Mr. Woolsey has been suspended  from his duties immediately pending further action by our Board of Directors and a court of law.  My thoughts and prayers are with both families impacted by this situation. It is important to note that this situation will not affect the programs and services provided to over 500 families a month who need food assistance offered at the Sikeston Food Pantry."

Heartland News reached out to Woolsey's family, who did not wish to comment due to advice from legal counsel.

Woolsey's bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety and he's not allowed to have any contact with the victim.
