Children's academy fire under investigation in Ziegler

A fire at a children's academy in Ziegler, Illinois is under investigation.

According to Ziegler Fire Chief DavidL. Grear, an automatic fire alarm sounded at the ABC Children's Academy located at 115 North Main Street shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

Firefighters on the scene were able to see that the building's alarm system was activated and the main hallway of the structure was filled with smoke.

Grear says crews forced entry into the front door of the building and started a search to find the fire.

The fire was quickly located and was extinguished.

Grear says firefighters ventilated the building with fans to eject heavy amounts of smoke left over from the fire.

Royalton Fire Department provided automatic aid to Ziegler for the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
