Stuff a truck drive collects food in Piedmont

PIEDMONT, MO (KFVS) -

There's a drive underway in Piedmont to help those in need.

The AARP chapter in Piedmont sponsored a "Stuff-a-truck" event.

It's for the Ministerial Alliance food bank.

Proceeds go to the food pantry, which helps the needy in Piedmont and Wayne County.

"Last month we served 49 families which is between two and 300 people and that's quite an increase than what we were serving," said Darrel Loughridge, past president of the Clearwater Ministerial Alliance.

"I'd say thank you everybody for your help," said Bob Sanders, president of the Piedmont AARP. "it's really needed and it'll go to a good cause."

As of late Tuesday afternoon, they had received more than 2,300 items, and raised more than $2,100.
