PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Marshall County man was sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for child porn charges.

Todd Hill, 44, was charged with distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

Hill was sentenced to 190 months in prison with a 10-year term of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution of $5,000 to a victim.

According to the plea agreement, on June 9, 2009 and December 10, 2010 the defendant accessed the Internet on his home computer in Marshall County, Kentucky, and utilizing peer-to-peer file sharing software knowingly received images of child pornography.

On March 21, 2011, by means of the file-sharing program, Hill made child pornography available which was distributed through the Internet. On March 30, 2011 the defendant knowingly possessed different images of child pornography that he had received through the Internet.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Sparks and was investigated by the Kentucky Attorney General's Office Department of Criminal Investigations and the Marshall County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
