DONIPHAN, MO (KFVS) -

Two people who overcame fear to save a young man from a burning car get special recognition.

The Missouri Highway Patrol gave awards to Josh Fowler Monday morning in Doniphan.

Benjamin Tanner says Fowler rushed to his aid several months ago when he wrecked his vehicle on Highway 160 in Ripley County.

"They're amazing people," Benjamin Tanner said. "I mean, very few people who would stop and have that level of compassion just to try to do that."

"I'm just really thankful," said Josh Fowler. "We were glad to help. If we couldn't help, it would've been awful."

A woman also helped Fowler save Tanner from that wreck.

She received an award as well.
