Roadwork scheduled Monday in Marion, Ky.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans asphalt paving along US 60/Main Street in Marion, Kentucky starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

This daytime paving project will require a high level of public cooperation due to on-street parking in a 3-block area of the Marion, Ky. downtown business district.

By starting at the US 60/US 641 Intersection and moving eastward the crew hopes to be through the downtown area by mid-morning on Monday.

This planned paving project is along US 60 in Marion, Ky. between mile point 9.204 at the intersection of US 60/Gum Street with US 641/Main Street. It extends eastward along US 60/Main Street and Sturgis Road through Marion to mile point 10.755 at Rush Creek Bridge.

Again, this includes asphalt paving in the downtown business district in Marion, Ky. All vehicles parked along US 60/Main Street in the downtown area should be removed by 5:30 a.m., CDT, on Monday morning.

Drivers should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.

Approximately 9,000 vehicles travel this section of US 60 through Marion, Ky. in an average day. The work is expected to take about a week to complete, weather permitting.
