Bob Reeves says a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

A watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail (1"+), damaging winds in excess of 60mph and even tornadoes.

This just in to our newsroom this afternoon, police are investigating a homicide in New Madrid County. We'll have the latest from New Madrid County tonight on Heartland News.

A death investigation is underway in Stoddard County. Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner says a person found a body late Thursday afternoon off County Road 403 north of Dexter.

According to Bollinger County Sheriff Leo McElrath, three children came home Thursday and found their father dead.  The coroner said it looks as though the victim died from an apparent shooting. Holly Brantley talked to the sheriff, and will have the latest on this case tonight at 5.

The American Civil Liberties Union is representing the Ku Klux Klan in a lawsuit over Cape Girardeau's restrictions on leafleting vehicles.

Police say they have only one student in custody after gun shots were fired into a ceiling at a central Illinois high school.

Three suspects wanted in connection to in a Tenn. nightclub murder have been arrested.

There's boom in West Nile cases across the country, and now it might have hit one man right here in the Heartland.

And, folks gathered in Fredericktown, MO today to honor those killed on 9/11/2001.
