Harrisburg city treasurer fired

The Harrisburg City Council votes three to one to fire City Treasurer Charles Will during Thursday night's council meeting.

After a number of routine city matters, the city council voted to go into executive session.

They returned nearly one hour later and Finance Commissioner Ron Crank proposed that they vote to fire City Treasurer Charles Will.

"I guess he felt that the treasurer wasn't going to take the office where he thought it should be," said Harrisburg Mayor Eric Gregg. " So he brought it before the council tonight to make a recommendation to remove the treasurer. So that's what happened this evening."

The Deputy City Treasurer Linda George will take over duties in the treasurer's office, until a new treasurer is appointed.

"He was just going in a different direction then the council wanted to go," said Finance Commissioner Ron Crank. " We felt like it's better to just let him go, and we'll start over."

In other news the council did vote unanimously to loan ReavillMED, LLC a hundred thousand dollars out of the city's Revolving Loan Fund.

The President/CEO Matt Reavill says he'll use the funds to build a new medical tool business in Harrisburg. And he plans on hiring only disabled Veterans in the area to work at the new company.
