Josh Frydman is the newest member of the Heartland Sports team, taking over for weekend anchor Chad Fryman. No, the two are not related, though when Josh was younger, his father tried to convince him former major league baseball player Travis Fryman was a distant cousin.
Josh joins KFVS12 from Raycom Media sister station WMC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Memphis, where he worked as a sports reporter, producer, and fill-in anchor. He began his career as a sports and news multimedia journalist for KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. His work has been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Missouri and is excited to be back in the Show Me State. Josh is a Midwesterner through and through. He grew up in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, a suburb about 30 miles northwest of Chicago. He still misses the deep-dish pizza and Italian beef. Josh got the journalism bug while working for his high school newspaper and radio station. Since then he has known he's wanted to make a career out of reporting and telling stories.
Josh loves all things sports, especially the Mizzou Tigers. When he's not out reporting or shooting a game, Josh is probably watching or reading about sports. He also enjoys getting out and playing them whenever he can, including tennis, softball and flag football.
He looks forward to getting to know all of the athletes, coaches and fans in the Heartland. If you have a story idea, please send it his way! e-mail Josh.
