BATON ROUGE, LA (KFVS) -

Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services have had volunteers in Baton Rouge supporting Hurricane Isaac disaster relief efforts.

They've been helping since August 25.  NTDS is a volunteer humanitarian organization that provides disaster relief to victims in Obion, Weakley and Lake Counties in northwest Tennessee.

NTDS claims to have been one of the first organizations to respond to Hurricane Isaac.

NTDS workers say they have handed out 748 clean-up kits, hundreds of gallons of water, hand sanitizer, paper towels and dozens of other items to assist Louisiana residents.

They say most importantly, residents received lots of hugs and encouragement from their friends in Tennessee.
