Visitors asked to take precautions at Mark Twain National Forest

ROLLA, MO (KFVS) -

Mark Twain National Forest visitors are asked to take precautions for heavy rains while visiting Missouri's National Forests over Labor Day weekend August 31-September 2, 2012.

National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rains August 31-September 1, 2012 with possible 2-4 inches of rainfall from Tropical Storm Isaac.  Visitors could see sustained wind gusts of 15-25 mph, possibly 35 mph.

Because of the potential of flash flooding, National Forest officials are asking visitors to stay away from river banks and rock bars, and to monitor conditions for possible flash flooding on low water crossings.
