Will Tropical Storm Isaac impact the Heartland?

Will Tropical Storm Isaac make its way into the Heartland? And, if so, will it have an impact on drought conditions?

According to Meteorologist Marlene Mickelson with the National Weather Service in Memphis, even though it is too early to tell at this point, the remnants of Isaac could make it into the Heartland by later this week.

Mickelson believes that the Heartland won't accumulate a lot of rain. But, she says any rain would do good and help out with the drought and river levels in our area.

She said the storm may make the Mississippi River rise up to a foot in the Caruthersville, Missouri area.

According to NWS predictions, the Mississippi River level at Caruthersville was at -.15 ft. at 1 p.m. on Sunday. That is the fourth lowest on record.
