CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A judge reduced the bond Wednesday of a Cape Girardeau teen accused of a hate crime. And as of Wednesday afternoon, Mercedes Ayers was free on bond, according to the Cape Girardeau County Jail.

Mercedes Ayers bond was reduced Wednesday to $5,000 cash or surety but with special conditions.

According to the judge, Ayers must follow these conditions:

She must stay with her aunt,  and may not move her residence without the express written order of the court.

-She must not leave the state of Missouri

-She must submit to blood, breath or urine test at request by any law officer anywhere, anytime

-She must not possess or consume any intoxicating beverages or illicit drugs

-She must be at home every night from 4 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the following day, and shall only be permitted to leave the residence to attend school and any court proceedings

-She can't have direct or indirect contact with victims

-She must stay more than 500 feet away from the place of residence and place of employment of victims

-She must not be in presence of any person possessing and/or consuming alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs

-And, she must not be presence or company of any person or people on probation and/or parole or who has pled guilty or been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor

Ayers appeared in court on Monday.

Attorneys for 17-year-old Mercedes Ayers asked that her $10,000 bond be reduced.

A Cape Girardeau woman says Ayers and two other kids pulled the victim from her home and beat her.

According to court records, the victim says Ayers yelled lesbian slurs at her during the attack.

She faces charges of third degree assault as a hate crime and burglary.

Ayers will be back in court in September for a preliminary hearing.
