Third man sentenced for involvement in 2010 murder

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The third of three suspects involved in a break in and murder has been sentenced in Massac County.

Prosecutors say Jalmar Hill of Cairo, pleaded guilty in Massac County on Thursday to first degree murder charges. He was sentenced to 21 years for the crime.

Hill entered the plea in the middle of the trial, and will serve 100 percent of the sentence. Hill was involved in the break in an robbery.

Jalmar Hill's brother, Demetrius Hill also of Cairo, pleaded guilty in June 2012 and was sentenced to 21 years. He was also facing first degree murder charges. He was involved in the break in and robbery.

The shooter, Riley Purdiman of Tamms is serving a 40 year sentence.

The three were arrested in December 2010 in connection to the death of 23-year-old Brad Sims in November 2010 in Brookport, Illinois.
