TAMAROA, IL (KFVS) -

Several fire departments are battling three fires three miles west of Tamaroa.

Tamaroa Fire Chief Richard Valentine says several crews are working to put out three separate fires.

Valentine says the first fire started in a shed.

It spread to a trailer that was 40 feet away. Then, that fire may have sparked a field of wheat stubble on fire that is a quarter of a mile away.

The cause of the shed fire is unknown.

The trailer fire has been extinguished.

Crews from Nashville, Sesser, Du Quoin, and Pinckneyville are working to put out the fires.

Valentine says this is about 3.5 miles west of the community center.

At least one firefighter went to the hospital for heat exhaustion.
