METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -

A Metropolis man is accused of buying narcotics from an undercover detective near a school.

Massac County deputies arrested James "Jimmy" Belt of Metropolis Thursday on a warrant for delivery of controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.

According to Sheriff Ted Holder, the warrant was issued after a Massac County undercover deputy made a controlled buy of Lortabs from Belt. This is after deputies received complaints about activity around the residence.

Holder says Belt lives across the street from the Metropolis Pre- Kindergarten.

He was taken to the Massac County Jail on $25,000.
