1 in custody after fire in New Madrid

Police have someone in custody after an arson fire in New Madrid.

New Madrid Assistant Fire Chief Steven Lewis says there was a fire at an apartment complex on Mill Street Thursday around 9:30 a.m.

Lewis says the small fire was contained to one bedroom.

He says no one was injured.

New Madrid Police Chief Claude McFerren says they have someone in custody, and are waiting results of the fire marshal's investigation to formally press charges of arson.
