Cape Girardeau suspected purse snatcher identified by police

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau police says a suspected purse snatcher arrested on Tuesday is a teenager from Oran.

Michael W. Williams, 18, of Oran, has been charged with class C felony theft of a credit card, according to the Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney's office.

According to Cape Girardeau Officer Darin Hickey, Williams was taken to Jail on a $15,000 bond.

And, a judge says Williams may not be in Cape Girardeau County except to attend court proceedings.

Our Heartland News photographer was in Walmart Tuesday when a suspected purse snatcher ran out of the building.

Someone chased him but lost him.

Then police later caught up with the suspect at a small shopping complex nearby in front of David's Bridal.

Two Cape Girardeau police officers eventually got the suspect on the ground and handcuffed him.

He didn't put up much of a fight once police caught up with him.
