PULASKI COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The bodies of two Grand Chain men have been recovered from the Ohio River Tuesday morning.

The men went missing near Joppa Landing on North Avenue late Monday night.

The bodies of Delbert Vincent Snell, 50, of Grand Chain and William Brian Burkhead, 26, of Grand Chain were recovered Tuesday morning, according to the McCracken County Coroner's Office. They are uncle and nephew.

The cause of death for both men has been ruled as accidental drowning.

Burkhead was out in water and called Snell for help, according to the coroner's office.

McCracken County Emergency Management Director Paul Carter says their bodies were found nearby. The body of the nephew was found around 2 a.m. The body of the uncle was found around 9 a.m. one mile downstream from Lafarge Cement Company.

Carter said this is one of the deadliest years on the Ohio River in the Heartland and urges even the best swimmers to take extreme caution when out in the water.
