Roll over car wreck in Jackson

Jackson police say one woman walked away from a roll over wreck because she was wearing her seatbelt.

The woman tells Heartland News she veered off one side of Old Cape Road, tried to correct, and over corrected to flip the car into a ditch.

Serena Henson was sitting in the front yard with her mother-in-law and 4-year-old daughter.

"I turn and look and she's off the road, and then comes back on the road over corrects, and just shoots across into the ditch, went airborne and flipped the car completely over and landed, didn't even really slide, it landed really hard," said Henson. "She's going to be sore tomorrow, very sore."

The woman walked away with minor cuts.

Henson said when the woman tried to correct the first time, the car was headed straight for her, her daughter, and her mother-in-law in the yard.

"It headed straight for us at one point, I was worried about getting to my 4 year old, and getting her out of the way, that was my biggest concern," said Henson. "It was obviously terrifying, my mother in law screamed, it was pretty scary."

Henson said when the car landed upside down, she sprang into action.

"At that point I saw her hand on the window, and the window came down because she couldn't get the door open, the doors were against the ground, they wouldn't open at all, her hand was against the window and she rolled the window down, and out she came, I went on down into the ditch and got her out," said Henson.
