Piedmont man sentenced for having gun illegally

A Piedmont, Missouri man has been sentenced for unlawful possession of a firearm.

William Nathan. Singleton, 38, was sentenced Friday to 24 months on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

On October 5, 2011, a search warrant was carried out at Singleton's home on Route 3 in Piedmont, Missouri. Officers seized a loaded Rossi, .410 gauge shotgun, along with 9 rounds of ammunition in Singleton's bedroom.

Because of Singleton's previous felony conviction in 2009 for unlawful use of a weapon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the Government.
