Former Cairo firefighter sentenced to probation for arson

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

A former Cairo auxiliary firefighter was sentenced to two-and-a-half years of probation.

Richard Pitcher was sentenced to 30 months of probation on Wednesday at the Alexander County Courthouse.

Pitcher and another former firefighter, David Patrick, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of arson.

Both men were accused of starting a fire at a storage facility by the Mississippi Levee in January 2011 and a home in Cairo in April 2011.

Patrick was sentenced to 30 months probation on July 11.
