Sikeston man charged with assault after woman found with bruises

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston man faces several charges after police say they found him in Caruthersville hiding in a bathroom.

Caruthersville police were called to an apartment at 43 E. David Street on January 18, according to the Caruthersville Police Department.

When officers arrived, the door was blocked and police could hear scuffling and screaming.

When officers got the door open, they saw a woman with bruises and swelling on her face.

Police found Jalonte Khiry Hunt hiding in the corner of a bathroom.

He was arrested, but released since police did not have a warrant at the time. A warrant was issued and he was arrested again on July 20.

Hunt is charged with domestic assault - 1st degree, property damage - 1st degree, and felonious restraint.
