NAYLOR, MO (KFVS) -
Police evacuated the Naylor post office and several nearby buildings after finding a suspicious package in the post office. However, that suspicious package turned out to be a dog tracking collar charger.
A man was planning to mail it and left it on the counter. He failed to put it in a bigger box.
The man dropped off a bigger package in a drop off box, but left the smaller one with the dog collar charger laying on the counter. The large box shipped, but the smaller box with the charger was left. It had visible wires open on one end.
Ripley County Sheriff Ron Barnett says someone found the box with wires sticking out of it.
They didn't want to take any chances so they evacuated the post office along with a nearby clinic, the library and several homes.
