Shoplifting bust turns into police chase in St. Francois Co.

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

What started out as a shoplifting bust, became a police chase through St. Francois County and part of Jefferson County.

According to Desloge Police Chief James Bullock, when a 33-year-old woman allegedly stole less than $100 worth of items from the Desloge Walmart on Friday evening, the store's manager called police.

An officer found the woman as she was leaving the store parking lot and attempted to pull her over. Bullock says that's when the woman took off and had to be chased down by the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's deputies attempted to use spike strips, blowing out one of her tires, but she continued driving. Bullock said the woman also hit a couple of sheriff's cars, doing some damage to the vehicles, before being taken into custody.
