Nearly 40 science students from high schools in China have toured an Illinois plant to learn about wastewater treatment technology.
Saturday's tour was one outcome of Gov. Pat Quinn's efforts to strengthen the state's ties with China. Quinn signed agreements with Chinese officials in September in business, cultural and educational cooperation.
The Oak Valley Water Reclamation Facility in Homer Glen is operated by Illinois American Water. It was upgraded in 2009 to double its capacity for wastewater treatment.
