Paducah man charged with meth trafficking

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah man is facing meth related charges after detectives found meth in his car.

Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division arrested a Paducah man Friday afternoon for trafficking in methamphetamine.

Jeffery "Buffy" L. Stafford, 53, of North Friendship Road in Paducah was charged with operating on a suspended license, possessing a license when privileges are revoked, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance and trafficking in methamphetamine over two grams.

Detectives say Stafford was driving the vehicle on a suspended driver's license. The vehicle was then stopped on I-24 near the 11 mile marker. 

A K-9 alerted to a narcotic odor coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Detectives searched the vehicle and found seven baggies of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $1400, that was concealed in the vehicle.

Stafford was taken to the McCracken County Jail. 

Detectives say he has a prior conviction for felony drug trafficking enhancing this offense to a class B felony carrying a penalty of 10-20 years in prison.
