Benton, Ky. man dies after fight

BENTON, KY (KFVS) -

A Benton, Ky. man died after a fight Wednesday night in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office responded to the 1100 block of Union Ridge Road at 9:50 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.

Sheriff Kevin Byars and his deputies found Howard J. "Joe" Baier Jr., 39, of Benton on the ground. He was pronounced dead by the Marshall county Coroner's Office.

Baier Jr. had been on the property and had a fight with the property owner, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office. No weapons are believed to have been involved.

Baier Jr. was taken by the Marshall County Coroner's Office to Louisville for autopsy. Marshall County Sheriff's detectives accompanied them for the exam. Pending this final report, the matter will be presented to the Grand Jury.

Marshall County Deputies were assisted by Aurora Ross Fire Department, Marshall County Coroner's Office, Marshall County EMS, and the Marshall County Rescue Squad.
