MARION, IL (KFVS) - There's a new owner of the old Circuit City Distribution Center in Marion, Illinois.

For the past three years the 1 million square foot facility has set empty.

But, that's about to change.

This past week the Dalfen Dominion Properly Corporation paid $8.1 million for the old facility.

The company is listed as a Dallas, Texas corporation, with its principal office in Westmount, Quebec, Canada.

So far the new owners have impressed local leaders.

"I spoke with the principal partners this past week, they are go getters," said Marion Mayor Bob Butler. "They are very impressive. Their attitude is very positive. They are confident that they are going to be able to find tenants in short order."

The company is planning on subletting the building to two and possible even four separate businesses.

"With the attitude they have I think they're going to make this thing work," said Mayor Butler. "And of course when that happens it's going to mean the creation of jobs. And that after all is the bottom line."

Kathy Lively, CEO of Man-Tra-Con has already been talking to the new owners about some of the workforce incentives they have to offer.

"We have on the job training funds which take workers who have some skill sets, but not exactly the skill sets that are necessary, and enable them by paying half of their salary for a training period from three to six months," Lively said. " So that's an incredible incentive."

Lively says the new owners have impressed her as to how much homework they did on the region before agreeing to the deal.

"They do demographic studies. They do economic impact analysis, they look at the workforce, and the training programs," said Lively. " Our community college programs here are outstanding. And they know that. That's part of what their homework is."

Just how many jobs will be created by the new businesses calling the Marion area home is yet to be seen.

"Any of the resources we have available, we'll make available to them," said Lively. "I think it's an incredible opportunity."
