GRAND CHAIN, IL (KFVS) - Authorities have released the name of the man killed when the Jon boat he was fishing in overturned in the Ohio River.
Ballard County Assistant Coroner Mark Claxton says 68-year-old James Larry Boyd from Villa Ridge died Tuesday.
Another man has minor injuries.
The Ballard County Emergency Management Agency director Anita Bugg says the men's 14-foot Jon boat got too close to Dam 53 and overturned near Grand Chain.
Bugg says one man was knocked unconscious and drowned. The other man was rescued.
Garry Clark with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife says the man who has minor injuries is in his 60s.
He says both men were experienced fishermen and had the boat anchored near old Dam 53 when the current caused the front of the boat to tip, ejecting them and flipping the boat.
The men launched the boat around 7:30 a.m. and had been fishing for two to three hours.
