BLOOMFIELD, MO (KFVS) -

A fire destroyed a home in Bloomfield Sunday afternoon.

Bloomfield Fire Chief Kenny Johnson says the fire happened at 508 S. School St. in Bloomfield around 4:20 p.m.

Nobody was home at the time. A neighbor kid was looking for a snake in the area. He screamed and his parents thought he found the snake but he screamed because he saw smoke coming out of the house. The neighbors called 911.

Johnson says the fire started in the attic somehow and is a total loss.

The fire is not considered suspicious.
