Cairo firefighters battle house fire

The fire broke out a little before 4 p.m. in the 400 block of Union Street. The fire broke out a little before 4 p.m. in the 400 block of Union Street.
CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

Cairo firefighters fought a house fire in town Tuesday afternoon.

It broke out around 3:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Union Street.

Cairo Fire Chief John Meyer says the fire started somewhere in the back of the house while a woman was inside.

The fire is not considered suspicious.

The home is a total loss.

No word on a cause of the fire.

Cairo Fire Department and Cairo Auxiliary Unit responded.
