CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau police are investigating a fire after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a house early Sunday morning.

Sgt. Jason Selzer says police responded to fire at 1425 Cousin around 5:20 a.m. on July 8.

The reporting party told police they heard a loud noise and saw that the curtain over an air-conditioning unit was on fire.

A woman in the house and a neighbor were able to put out the fire.

Officers found what appeared to be the remains of a bottle that had a strong smell of gasoline around it.

Selzer says someone in the home suffered a burn to the hand while trying to put out the fire. That person was treated and released from the hospital.

No arrests have been made.
