An even known as "Redneckin' on the River" will be held Saturday, July 7 in Caruthersville.
The event will take place at the Triangle River Access, also known as the Boat Club Shoot.
The main draw of the event is a tournament to see which team can catch the most Flying Carp.
"I kept seeing these tournaments on television and it looks like a lot of fun," said event organizer, Ben Baker.
The event is designed not only for fun but to also raise awareness of the invasive Flying Carp.
Entry fee into the tournament is $30 per boat. There is a limit of three persons per boat.
The team with the most fish is declared the winner and receives prize money.
You must have a Missouri fishing license and be 16 years or older to compete.
For complete tournament rules or to pay entry fee go to Baker Auto Parts in Caruthersville or contact Ben Baker at (573)333-4660.
Life vests and face protection is recommended for all entrants.
There will also be a costume contest at noon to see who can dress as the "biggest redneck".
There will also be cooking and serving of the carp during the tournament for anyone wanting to taste the fish.
