Crews called to forest fire in Union County

ALTO PASS, IL (KFVS) - Crews were called early Sunday evening to a forest fire in Union County, Illinois.

The fire was on private property off Hickam Road in rural Alto Pass.

According to Alto Pass Fire Chief "Bumper" Gurley lightning is the likely cause of the blaze and the fire had to be fought by hand because of the remote terrain.

Crews from Cobden and the Ware-Wolf Lake Fire Departments helped to put out the blaze.

No one was hurt and between 1 to 3 acres burned in spotty areas.
